Sometimes people have to take a certain action if insecure feelings persist over a long period of time.
First of all, realize that you are not alone in your feelings, others feel the same they just don't always talk about it or show it to anyone.
Sometimes people don't know what to do and don't know how to change how they feel so they make stupid mistakes to make them feel better. If you feel insecure maybe you have reasons for it. Maybe your job is stressful, maybe thoughts of fear perusing you. There are lots of reasons to how you feel.
Face your insecurities.
One of the steps on how to deal with insecurities is to face them. What is so awful and what you are affraid off? What is the worst case could happen. Our imagination is strong and sometimes what makes you insecure is really not that important. Talk to someone or write what you feel and affraid off. This can give you another look at your situation. Most people are affraid of unknown. If you are affraid you won't know what to do think about it and come up with a plan how you would deal with that situation.
For example, if you are affraid to loose your job, think about how many more job opportunities you could find if you were free. Being affraid to loose a job, a friend, a lover is bad but you could definitely deal with it. If you lost a dear friend, think about someone else is waiting for you in nearby future. Maybe you shouldn't waste your time on broken relationships anyway and it's time to move to something better.
Once you have a plan with how to deal with the worst case scenario, you will feel safer and more secure. Sometimes people are affraid even simple situations, like to say hi to someone or certain social situations. It's alright if you get rejected once in a while, feeling nervous is not a reason to stay home and do nothing.
Whether you feel secure or insecure, you need to do what you have to do. Go out, live normal life, know what you want and with experience you will be more confident about life and feel more secure.
Also, if you are a religious person, your faith can help you to deal with your insecure feelings. If you beleive God will take care of you and has greater things in store for you for your future you would feel more secure.
