How to quit bad habits...Why are you so attached to your old bad habits? Because people do what is important to them. If you can convince yourself that it new good healthy habits are important to you, then you won't have a problem. People want to do only things important to them. Sometimes we don't always know why some things are more important than others, but if you look at positive affect of it, if you look at reward at the end, you can convince yourself it's important. Form new habit by start to enjoying your good habits. The more you learn to enjoy, the easier it will be to form new habits. Reward yourself with praise or a treat. Ask others to praise you and encourage you if you do something good and right. It's o'kay to be reluctant at first, start with small steps and you will notice you might even like it. Examples of bad habits For example, maybe you were clinging to someone and they did reject you. You did anything you could, but you formed a bad habit of beleiving it's all you want and need. It could leave you very depressed for long if you still think it's very important to you to regain their trust, friendship, relationship or companionship. Realize it's not important as you want it to be. There are other more important things in your life that won't make your life so toxic. Start forming new habits and start thinking why it is so important to you. Things are generally neutral and only your faith and your mind tells what is important to you or not. Pay attention to your thinking process, think about rewards you will get from doing right things. It will make it easier. Form good habits Start doing it. Don't wait until you some day will have any desire to change something, but simply, start doing something now. Don't delay your action, once you start doing it, it won't see so difficult for you as it did at first. Do the best you can and praise yourself. If you want to quit smoking or drinking or internet or shopping addictions, or if you want to break small simple annoying habits, think about the rewards you get when you form new healthier habits. What is important to you know can change later. What seem important to you now, might not be as important later. Practice to beleive that your new habits will bring more joy, more benefit, more pleasure to your life. That you will benefit in the long run. |
