How long to wait for natural miscarriage?
When I had miscarriage I was affraid to wait very long because I didn't know anyone who waited over a month for a miscarriage. My baby died at 8 weeks and I miscarried at 14 weeks and 2 days. I'm not a medical doctor, I'm just writing about my own experience with miscarriage.
How I got my news about miscarriage
I came to my first doctor appointment at 12 weeks of my pregnancy and a doctor couldn't find a heartbeat. My doctor also touched my uterus and said it was a lot smaller than it should be. Then she send me to have an ultrasound.
My ultrasound confirmed that baby was dead and it was a size of 8 weeks old. Baby stopped growing at 8 weeks, but placenta bag was bigger than a baby.
It was shocking for us to hear because we didn't expect anything like that. I didn't hear many stories about miscarriages before. Only after I tell people I had a miscarriage they start telling me their stories too. I wish I would know about it before because it was so expected!
Knowing is better than not knowing. If I knew it happens often maybe I wouldn't be so shocked and surprised as I was at that time.
More details about my miscarriage
As you can see, I was waiting a long time since my baby's death to heave a miscarriage. It was difficult to wait so long because I didn't what to expect since I never had a miscarriage before.
My doctor told me to call her or to go to the hospital if I felt bad or had any complications.
Likely I didn't have any complications and I felt good.
Bleeding during and after miscarriage
In about a month after my baby's death I started bleeding, it was a first sign of approaching miscarriage. I was bleeding for 2 weeks before had a real miscarriage. Bleeding was very mild and I was even worried it could stop.
After my bleeding for about 2 weeks, I started having real contractions for many hours (all night and day) and baby came out with a lot of blood. It was very sudden and very heavy bleeding. After this miscarriage bleeding decreased in a few hours and then I was bleeding for about 4 more weeks which wasn't bad at all.
I expected a lot worse more pain, but miscarriage wasn't bad or scary. It wasn't very painful at all.
I hope my tips will help you to deal with your miscarriage.
