I had a miscarriage
Miscarriages are actually very common, I didn't know about it until I had one. I had a miscarriage.
I was 8 weeks pregnant when my baby died and my doctor told me I'm going to have a miscarriage.
I didn't know what to expect so I was scared and afraid.
I didn't know whether I should wait for a natural miscarriage or to schedule D&C operation. My doctor gave a choice and I didn't know what to do. I was scared of natural miscarriage and I was scared of D&C also.
After thinking a lot about it, I decided to try natural miscarriage first and then I thought if I would have any complications, I could always go to emergency room if I needed. So, I decided to wait.
I had my natural miscarriage happened at 14 weeks and 2 days.
Reasons why I decided to have natural miscarriage but not d&c
One of the reasons why I decided to have natural miscarriage was that I wanted to be sure a baby was really dead. If I had d&c operation too early, I would be still thinking at the back of my mind what if my baby was alive and they made a mistake or just didn't find a heartbeat? I know I was probably wrong, but I wanted to be sure.
Having natural miscarriage would make sure and give me a closer that I needed.
Another reason, I was afraid of d&c operation and heard of possibilities of complications.
Natural miscarriage isn't always safe either for a woman, but I decided at least to try.
My miscarriage and contractions
Before my baby "fall out" or was born so to speak, I had bleeding for about 2 weeks. My total bleeding during miscarriage was about a month. Bleeding wasn't painful. Only before a baby came out, I had contractions for many hours and they were a little painful.
My contractions started in the evening and at first I thought maybe I have a stomach pain or something. But then contractions were every a few minutes, so I understood it has something to do with a baby.
My contractions were all night long and I had no idea when they going to stop or what is going to happen. I couldn't sleep well, but it wasn't too bad. I could tolerate contractions pretty well. It wasn't horrible at all. I was expecting worse, so it was ok.
In the morning about 5:00 a.m. my contractions stopped and I passed a blood clot (just a piece of thick blood) and lots of blood was running from me. Then contractions stopped for the whole day.
Then I started having contractions at 4:00 p.m. gain. This time it was a little more painful, but I could still handle it.
I was very annoyed with my painful contractions. I would have to lay down when contractions would come up and all my body would squeeze. I felt so strong, all my muscles would contract and I felt a lot of strength in my body involuntary.
During my contractions, I was at home and I tried to bake chicken and make mashed potatoes. I was really annoyed that every time contractions would start I had to run to lay down or run to bathroom, because was too much blood pouring out.
I didn't know I was about to have a baby.
My husband wasn't home and I called him and told him that I have contractions again for many hours.
Later, at 8:00 p.m. contractions stopped. I called my mother in law and told her my contractions already stopped.
Then I hanged up the phone. I tried to get up from chair and felt like lots of blood was pouring from me, so I ran to bathroom.
At that moment my baby fell out! It was baby sack or placenta. It was a size of a big potato, formed from strong tissue and was looking looked like I never seen it before. I didn't know that inside this beg was laying my baby. I put this thing in fridge and waited couple hours when I my husband got home and we opened it.
Our Baby
When we opened this bag there was water and there was our baby.
Baby was about 1 inch long, white and hard for the touch. Baby head arms, legs, eyes, and even 5 fingers on each hand.
Baby was just laying quietly like he was sleeping and looked comfortable. It was great to see a baby because I wanted to have a closure. And now I will always remember my 1st baby.
After miscarriage
During my miscarriage everything came out and I didn't have to have d&c after natural miscarriage. I was very glad everything turned out good for me. My uterus was checked via ultrasound and I had no tissues left inside me.
